Shockwave Regenerative Therapy

Shockwave Regenerative Therapy for pain or inflammation has just arrived at PhysioFit Physical Therapy and Wellness!

At PhysioFit Physical Therapy and Wellness, we believe in innovation and are dedicated to offering our patients the latest and most advanced evidence-based treatment options for the musculoskeletal system. As part of this dedication, we proudly offer Radial Shock Wave (RSW) aka EPAT (Extracorporeal Pulse Activation Technology) and FSW (Focused Shock Wave); the most advanced non-invasive treatment options for a broad range of orthopedic injuries and conditions to accelerate tissue healing and regeneration. Along with EMTT, a magnetic wave device that also aides in healing tissues in bone.

We proudly offer these non-invasive treatment technologies from STORZ Medical, based in Switzerland, and CURAMEDIX, distributor of STORZ products in the USA, to provide relief for patients suffering from acute or chronic pain, soft tissue injuries, or other types of musculoskeletal conditions.

What is Shockwave Regenerative Therapy?

Proven Chronic Pain Treatment Using Storz Medical's Shockwave Technology

Regenerative Therapy uses Storz Medical's Shockwave Technology as another alternative treatment that can be used very effectively for pain management. Revolutionizing healthcare through non-surgical solutions that treat the root cause, accelerate the healing process, and improve the quality of care we deliver to our patients. This provides a faster, easier, more complete path to healing. It is like getting a view that an MRI or X-ray would tell us to find the root cause of the problem while you are receiving treatment to fix it. In addition, an MRI or X-ray does not necessarily verify the reason for your pain as this technology can do.

Radial Pulse
Wave

(RSW/RPW)

Radial Pulse Wave therapy targets depths up to 6 cm, fostering unparalleled repair across soft tissues like tendons, muscles, and ligaments. It effectively addresses scars, adhesions, and pelvic floor issues such as pain, sexual dysfunction, and bladder or bowel problems. Additionally, it offers body sculpting benefits in specific treatment areas.

Focused Shock Wave

(FSW)

Focused Shock Wave therapy delivers high-energy shockwaves that penetrate up to 12.5 cm, effectively treating deep tissue, joint, bone, and calcification issues. Perfect for anyone with achy localized pain or tightness that exercise and physical therapy (or occupational therapy) can't touch. It's also widely beneficial for addressing pelvic floor problems such as pain, sexual dysfunction, and bladder or bowel issues.

Magneto-Transduction Therapy

(EMTT/MTT)

Magneto-Transduction Therapy uses electromagnetic fields to penetrate up to 18 cm to treat deep pain, and inflammation while facilitating cellular repair of soft tissue, joints, and bones. It effectively addresses fractures, osteoarthritis, herniated discs, carpal tunnel, and pelvic floor issues like pain, sexual dysfunction, and bladder/bowel problems.

How It Works:

  1. Stimulation of Cellular Processes:
    • Regenerative therapies leverage mechanical, electromagnetic, or biochemical stimuli to activate cellular mechanisms that accelerate healing. For example, Extracorporeal Shockwave Therapy (ESWT) uses sound waves, and EMTT (Electromagnetic Transduction Therapy) uses electromagnetic fields to induce biological changes at the cellular level.
    • These stimuli encourage cellular regeneration, angiogenesis (the formation of new blood vessels), and the production of collagen, all of which are essential for tissue repair.
  2. Targeted Tissue Regeneration:
    • The therapy is usually applied to injured or degenerated tissues, such as tendons, ligaments, or bones. The mechanical or electromagnetic forces applied trigger a healing response by activating mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) or enhancing the activity of fibroblasts, which help regenerate damaged tissue.
    • Shockwave therapy, for example, produces microtrauma that induces the body’s natural healing response. In contrast, EMTT works on a deeper cellular level by influencing ion channels and enhancing cell membrane permeability, which improves cellular metabolism.
  3. Non-invasive and Minimally Invasive:
    • These therapies are typically non-invasive (like EMTT) or minimally invasive (like PRP injections), making them attractive alternatives to surgery. They are commonly used for chronic pain, musculoskeletal injuries, and even degenerative conditions like osteoarthritis.

In essence, shockwave regenerative therapies harness the body's innate capacity for healing by stimulating cellular repair through external forces, making them highly beneficial in fields such as orthopedics, sports medicine, and tissue engineering.

FAQs

Shockwave Regenerative Therapy is an FDA-cleared technology that when performed by a qualified healthcare professional, such as one of our physical or occupational therapy clinicians, has virtually no side effects or risks, including no risk of infection or scarring. This technology has undergone extensive clinical studies and tests to confirm its safety and efficacy and is currently used all around the world.

The length of application can vary depending on what injury or condition of the musculoskeletal system is being treated.

During the treatment process, one of our clinicians will apply a coupling gel to the skin of the area being treated. After the gel is applied, a handheld applicator will be used to release RPW/EPAT pressure waves over the area of pain and surrounding tissues. FSW will then be delivered to the specific pain point to deliver higher energy to stimulate the regenerative capability of your tissues more effectively.

The pulses will slowly increase until the desired tolerated energy level is reached. Shockwave Regenerative Therapy does not require anesthesia and is generally well-tolerated.

After the session, patients can bear weight immediately and return to normal activities without downtime.

Patients will typically have Shockwave Regenerative Therapy applied for 6 treatment sessions but it could be more or less depending on their injury or condition. The long-term beneficial effects of Shockwave Regenerative Therapy are often experienced after three treatments. However, it can vary between patients. Some patients may experience immediate pain relief while others may take up to five weeks to begin to feel relief.

The Magneto-Transduction Therapy (EMTT) device is positioned over the treatment area. This device generates magnetic fields that penetrate deep into the tissues. Treatment is typically optimal with 6-8 visits.

Shockwave Regenerative Therapy is designed to treat a wide variety of conditions. Over 90% of our patients doing PT (or OT) along with Shockwave report being pain-free or significant pain reduction. Shockwave is very effective for treating those who are suffering from chronic or acute pain as well as effective in treating athletes and sports injuries.

What Our Clients Say

S.S.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
"I didn't know how Shockwave (Regenerative Therapy) was going to work because I have had other therapies before shockwave and they really haven't help me much. I was thinking ok if this helps me its good. I've tried acupuncture, cupping, Ive had cortisone injections, and even physical therapy. PhysioFit, after each session I was feeling really good. After some time, I had a little pain return but it was better! Especially my legs. I couldn't lift my legs up, I had no balance, I had to sit own to put my pants on. Now I am able to lift my legs, get in and out of the car easier, and return to gardening! I loved gardening, but, I had to stop because I couldn't bend or I had pain. I'm doing a little bit of gardening now better than before. Anyone wondering if this will help them should try it because it's definitely going to help them.”

What's The Difference?

PhysioFit PT & Wellness
Shockwave Regenerative Therapy

OTHERS

Quality

  • Focused shockwaves, radial shockwaves, or EMTT. They use precise energy delivery and have adjustable settings to target specific tissues at varying depths, ensuring effective treatment.
  • Different technology: mechanical vibration or low-energy radial waves. The build quality is typically lower, with less durable materials and less precise engineering.

Energy Delivery and Control

  • Precise control over energy levels, frequency, and penetration depth is critical for effectively treating different conditions. These devices are calibrated to deliver consistent energy, ensuring the treatment is safe and effective.
  • Offer limited control over energy levels, frequency, and depth. The energy delivered is often inconsistent and may not reach therapeutic levels,

Efficacy

  • They are proven effective for various conditions, including chronic tendinopathies, plantar fasciitis, and muscle pain, with documented results from clinical studies.
  • Due to the lack of precision and lower energy output, these devices may produce little therapeutic results. They are often ineffective for severe conditions and may only provide mild relief or placebo effects.

Safety

  • Designed with safety mechanisms and undergoes rigorous testing to ensure patient safety. The ability to finely adjust settings helps avoid adverse effects and tailor the treatment to individual needs.
  • The safety standards are often questionable. The lack of precise energy control can lead to inconsistent results and an increased risk of side effects, such as tissue damage or skin irritation.

Longevity and Support

  • Built for long-term use with high-quality components. They provide comprehensive support, including training, maintenance, and repair services, ensuring consistent performance.
  • Often have a shorter lifespan and limited or no customer support. Parts and repairs may be challenging to obtain, leading to device failure over time.
