      Hello and Welcome...

      • Are you worried about a sports injury that isn’t going away on its own, no matter how much "rest" you've been told to get?
      • Are you tired of doing "stretches, or other exercises for your sports injury that just don’t seem to work?
      • Are you frustrated that physical therapy or personal training or exercise classes haven’t worked, and your pain seems to be getting worse?
      • Does it concern you that you’re unable to get back in shape because you are worried that exercising might hurt you more?
      • Are you having trouble keeping up with friends and family, and missing out on your favorite activities because of pain?
      • Do you wish you could improve your performance in your favorite sports?

If that's happening to you, you're not alone. We hear this type of thing all the time! In fact, Sports Injuries are one of the most common problems that we see in our physical therapy clinic in Los Altos, CA.

And when it comes to living with a Sports Injury, everybody we see wants to know the answers to these simple questions...

Why Is This Happening To Me?
      Or
"Why Am I Still Suffering With This Sports Injury After Putting Up With It A Month (Or Maybe More)?

So many people think that their sports injury is "not that bad" and it will get better with just a little rest and you will quickly be able to exercise and play your sport again.  But when you do go back to your sport again, you are restricted or limited, which can make things even worse than when it first happened.

You see, most people will have little to no pain when they rest... And then when you start back up, the pain comes back.  And no matter how much you rest it, it doesn't seem to get any better.

      Does This Sound Like You?

Another scenario we see all the time in our physical therapy clinic is when people are told to rest, ”try medications”, wear a brace or told they need to "get an MRI.”

This issue is that most of the sports injuries out there (like ankle sprains, runner's knee, or hamstring injuries), complete REST is rarely the best way to recover quickly.

So maybe you are a bit confused, or even frustrated, because you've been told so many different things. Maybe you have looked up information on the internet and feel more confused by the amount of info that is out there, because you don't want to do the wrong thing - making your injury even worse!

Sports injuries can be quite confusing because more often than not, the source of your pain is coming from somewhere else.  What you believe is the injured area, is only the "VICTIM" and and not the TRUE CAUSE of your pain.  If you don't fix this issue, the problem will continue to show itself... again and again!  And if you rest too long, then more problems come about and complicate the whole injury.

The confusion about "REST" often leads people to delay in making a decision about what to do to help fix their injury and get back to sports quickly.  What's even worse, is that some people  just end up "accepting" that their days of sports are all over... Like this is normal and the way it has to be.

Has This Ever Happened To You?

      • You thought it would go away on it’s own- but it didn’t.'
      • You were told to rest and take pain pills (which we know are addicting and dangerous). Yet the pain meds did not do anything to help your sports injury, and as soon as they wore off, chronic pain struck again.
      • A family member, or friend, told you that everybody who plays sports gets hurt, especially as they get older, so it should just be accepted.
      • You tried other Healthcare Professionals, or a Physical Therapist in the past, but nothing they said or did seemed to help very much.
      • You tried Googling "How to recover from..." and have used YouTube videos to do exercises but they either didn’t do a thing, or perhaps made your pain much worse.
      • You thought it would be a good idea to rest because your sports injury was so bad, but all that did was make it feel even more stiff and tight.
      • You decided to get a few “massages” hoping that would fix the pain, but all they did was feel nice and relaxing, and didn’t do anything to fix it long term.
      • You thought using a brace or support would alleviate your pain for good, but that didn't get to the underlying cause of the problem.

If any of these have happened to you, then we would love to help you by inviting you to book a call to talk with one of our physical therapy experts at our clinic to find out what can be done to help you.

The fact that you’ve tried any or all of these things already is actually a GOOD THING because when you know what doesn’t work and you are closer to finding what does work.

What Can I Do To Heal From My Sports Injury?

Well, there's 4 things you can do...

      • First, you need to make a decision about getting help. So many people procrastinate for so long, thinking that the pain will "just go away with time", but then 6 to 8 months down the line they’re still putting up with it, and nothing’s changed… Or it gets worse.
      • Next, do the RIGHT exercises. One of the best things to help you ease your pain from a sports injury is to do the right series of progressed exercises - the right exercises given to you by a Physical Therapist will help reduce pain, and allow you to move freely again - and make sure that the problems don’t come back any time soon.
      • You will want to avoid "RESTING TOO MUCH.", The irony is that rest is usually the worst thing you can do for sports injuries... especially for too long. Have you ever tried to get up from the couch after resting for a while, only to find that it is painfully difficult because of stiffness and tightness? One of the absolute worst things you can ever do that slows the recovery process is sit for prolonged periods of time or rest in the same position for more than 30 minutes at a time. If you rest too much, you will feel that stiffness and tightness. It would really help if you were given the appropriate strengthening exercises, combined with the appropriate hands-on treatment, to get you active and healthy as quickly as possible.
      • You need to get some real, “hands-on” Physical Therapy treatment. PT is proven to help people with pain. In fact, at PhysioFit we see these injuries all the time. If your injury is stopping you from being active or playing your sport, affecting your job, if it threatening your independence or getting in the way of spending quality time with family and friends, a Physical Therapist can help get you back to living the life you deserve as quickly as possible.

“Hear From PhysioFit Clients Who Are Feeling More ACTIVE,
      HEALTHY
And HAPPY…In Just A Few Short Weeks”!

"I broke my hip and was in a walker and wheelchair for almost 4 months. I was so thrilled to begin walking again and I didn’t want to think I needed to do any physical therapy. Well, 6 months after regaining my mobility, I was struggling with pain. I wasn’t sure what physical therapy could really do for me given that I was mobile and walking. I thought I would just have to deal with the pain along the scar line. My hip doctor suggested that my pain could be originating from the hardware that is in my femur and hip. Or it could be scar tissue that had developed, and he suggested trying physical therapy. Mika at PhysioFit has been amazing She discovered that my scar tissue had attached to my muscles, and that was causing a lot of my pain. She has worked on releasing the scar tissue through muscle work and ultrasound. I didn’t realize going in to therapy that my muscles on the injured leg were still so weak. Turns out I was barely able to balance on my right leg without falling over! Mika has been doing strengthening and balance exercises with me and I am amazed at the difference. Also, about one month after starting my therapy sessions for my right hip, I fell on my stairs at home and broke my left ankle! Mika helped me recover from this injury too, and because I was proactive about doing physical therapy on my ankle, I have no remaining problems with that ankle. I only wish I had started therapy on my hip from the beginning. I believe it would have saved me from developing scar tissue and becoming weak on my right side. I am thrilled with my results and am so thankful to Mika for helping me. Just the absence of pain in my daily life has made a huge difference! And Mika has a great sense of humor and is fun to work with. I look forward to my therapy sessions with her. The office staff and assistants at PhysioFit are polite and friendly, and they are very helpful and proactive in finding out about insurance coverage. I would highly recommend PhysioFit to my friends and family and my advice would be to NOT WAIT! Sooner the better to start your recovery!"

"I first came to PhysioFit when my ankle was severely strained from stepping on a tennis ball while playing (ouch). After several weeks in cast, my foot's muscles somewhat athropied, and my doctor ordered physiotherapy. My therapist was great in giving me the exercises I need on site and at home that restored my foot. My daughter sprained her ankle too in a staircase accident, and she went through a similar regiment with a different therapist. They are all very qualified and have good patient manners. We didn't have any problem with finance since we were covered by our insurance, and the staff were always polite and clear about our responsibilities. Now I take beginner group TRX classes there, and the instructor Lori is very patient. Even though it is beginner, I get a very good workout."
